Construction

If you take a close look at a normal interior door, you will notice that besides having a door handle, and not being flush with the wall, there are some other obvious giveaways that it can be opened; There is a gap between the bottom of the door and the floor to allow the door to open over uneven surfaces and there is an obvious seam that runs around the entire door.

At The Hidden Door Company we eliminate these problems, and take advantage of the unused area a normal door takes up:

Reclaim Lost Space: A normal door functions only to open or close a walkway between rooms.  In a Hidden Door, this space can provide an additional bookcase or wine rack, as well as a functional door.

Re-integrate the door into the design of your home: The wall space a door takes up can be re-integrated into the design of the room, rather than being a dead spot in a wall.

Built to Last: We use only top quality materials in our doors. From the wood, to the hinges and drawer pulls, your door will be built to last and will retain its smooth hidden quality for years to come.

Hinges and Hardware: All of our doors are hinged using the best hinge type for each application.  Some companies' doors are made to slide on rails, but over time this system can become loose and detract from the secret nature of your door.  At The Hidden Door Company we use only top quality hardware that ensures your investment will last.

Wood: Our craftsmen can build your door out of any wood species you specify.  If unspecified, we use a paint grade beech and skinned MDF.  Some commonly requested wood upgrades include: Oak, Maple, Cherry, Mahogany, Vertical Grain Douglas Fir and Walnut.  Our doors are delivered unfinished so you can have an experienced painter match the finish of the surrounding cabinets exactly and ensure that the illusion is complete

The Hidden Door is a ready to install product, however finishing is required by the installer. Unless the upgrade is purchased, doors do not come painted or stained. As with any standard pre-hung interior door, the door becomes ineffective if not properly installed, fit and finished. As jobsite situations are infinitely variable, it is required for the customer to recognize that final install could include: minor sanding, clearance adjustments, and finish touch ups. Installation of a Hidden Door is best performed by a journeyman level finish carpenter or contractor.
